Clément Select Barrel

So I have been chomping at the bit to tell all of you about this new offering from Rhum Clément:

Clément Select Barrel. I got to taste this a few months ago and wanted to make sure it was available before a posted my feelings about it.
Clément is an AOC, Rhum Agricole which can only be distilled from select, fresh sugar cane juice that has been naturally fermented before being expertly distilled and matured. Clément Select Barrel is aged in oak barrels that selected for their natural sweetness and intense aromatic properties for at least three years under the scrutiny of the cellar master at Habitation Clément. They aren't really clear on what kind of oak is used, but a solid guess would refill French oak. Whatever barrel is used, what is achieved is excellent. It is a completely accessible, well aged Rhum Agricole with impeccable balance.

Tasting Notes:On the nose, sugar cane, toasted nuts, fruit, wood, caramel, mulling spice
and vanilla.

The flavors are a graceful iteration of the aromas in a rich, deep, layered demonstration that is simultaneously easy and completely full of flavor.

The finish is very dry with the spices and oak gorgeously leading the parade slowly fading to a lip smacking reminder of the vanilla.

This Rhum is wonderful and priced so fairly that it is perfect for every use. Definitely sip this neat, but do not fear putting it on ice and please, please do make yourself a cocktail with this!

They have listed a few here on their website, but feel free to be adventurous!

Oh yeah, I stole the picture from the website!

Whiskey Wednesday: Cyrus Noble & Water

I was checking my Twitter yesterday the Cyrus Noble Twitter posted this: "I'd say something simple, classic and perfect sounds great right now... How about with water on the rocks. " and that has been lingering with me. I love "simple & classic"! I love Whiskey and water! It just falls into one of those "why mention it" categories, but the minimalistic beauty is undeniable and it is warm where I am; very warm. Easy delicious and refreshing sounds great to me right now. The recipe:

Cyrus Noble & Water

2 1/2 - 3 oz Cyrus Noble Bourbon
3 oz Water

Fill 8 oz glass with ice (*or see ideas below), pour in Cyrus Noble Bourbon and top will cool, clean water.

So some fun, easy adaptations:
1] Use frozen fruit instead of ice. (I used frozen Mango chunks...)
2] Use iced tea, iced herbal tea, sparkling water or whatever you fancy.
---When I add things with different flavor I change the name. as in: Cyrus Noble & Water made with iced tea would be: Cyrus Noble & Tea...

Have fun and stay cool!
