Thirsty Thursday #7: Whiskey Sour

This is kind of a no brainer. Not the most stunning of beverages, but a definitely refreshing one that needs to be in every arsenal. That being said . . . the real reason I am even witting it up is because National Whiskey Sour Day (click the link, there is a lot of good info.) is approaching this Sunday, August 25th. So for Thirsty Thursday #7, here is a Whiskey Sour, with enough time to shop, get all the ingredients a practice making a couple so they are perfect for National Whiskey Sour Day.

Whiskey Sour

2 Oz Cyrus Noble Bourbon
3/4 Oz Lemon Juice
1/2 Oz Simple Syrup
*** 1/2 a small egg white optional

Shake and strain, on ice or not, in a sour glass if you have them.
Garnish is up to you. It is usually an orange slice or a cherry or both.

As for the egg--for me, I leave it out. It is completely up to you. I have read, that when egg is added it becomes a Boston Sour. The egg does make the mouth feel more silky and if you dry shake the heck out of it you get a nice head on top.
